You are huMAN.
Beautifully complex, resilient, and capable of untapped greatness. I’ve walked through dark times, battling depression’s heavy fog. Tougher days may lie ahead, but I’m certain of one thing: we can overcome. With guiding principles, we can shape our lives to rise above any challenge.
Today, I want to share a truth which is you get to choose how you live. Focus on your unique journey and tune out distractions. Your path isn’t anyone else’s, it’s yours to carve. I stumbled upon a phrase that captures it perfectly, untapped greatness is quiet, but heavy. It lingers in the background, a life you’re meant to live. There’s no greater burden than a gift you shrink from, unsure how to grow into it or share it. This is the imposter potential paradox, when those capable of more dim their light, afraid that stepping up means rewriting their story.
Like many of you, my mind doesn’t settle. That restlessness? It’s permission to be more. However, fear creeps in. Life’s challenges can dull our hunger for risk, and we shrink into versions of ourselves we barely recognize. We turn off, grow sad, or settle for less.
But here’s the call RISE AGAIN. I’ve held this mentality for years: I’m coming for it, no matter how long it takes. I’ve won some battles, and more victories are on the horizon. Hiding your greatness is more exhausting than embracing it. So, let it shine. Accept the failures that come with the spotlight and keep rising.
This picture is one of my favourite - my loins.
That spark of greatness you feel? It’s evidence. Stop fanning the flames of doubt. Acknowledge the struggles, they are yours and mine. Recognition isn’t about fixing things, it’s about seeing the weight we carry and honouring it.
This letter is to myself, a reminder of my calling. If it resonates with you, I’m glad. The rise of great people rests on our shoulders, men. We carry a burden, a purpose, and a profound joy. Let’s step into it.
Here’s to rising,
Olajide
