As I sit down to write this newsletter on this crisp evening of March 28, 2025, I can’t help but feel a wave of gratitude wash over me. Today, I’m reflecting on the road that’s brought me here into my 30s, a decade I’ve dreamed of with both excitement and a little bit of fear. I wanted to catch up with you all, share my heart, and invite you into the next chapter of my life. So, grab a cup of tea (or coffee, if that’s your vibe), and let’s chat.
A New Decade feels like stepping onto a stage where the lights are brighter, the stakes feel higher, and yet, the peace I’ve been chasing is finally starting to settle in. The 20s were a whirlwind full of dreams, late nights scribbling ideas, and moments where I doubted if I’d ever get here. But here I am, and I’m bringing all of you with me because your love and support have been my anchor. This milestone isn’t just about a number; it’s about growth. I’ve learned to embrace the messiness of life the highs of seeing my words touch someone’s heart and the lows of staring at a blank page, wondering if I’ve got anything left to say. Entering this year, I’m filled with hope, a quiet strength, and a whole lot of love for this journey we’re on together.
The Struggles That Shaped Me, let’s be real isn’t always glamorous. There were nights I wrestled with self-doubt, wondering if my stories mattered. I’ve faced rejection letters that stung like paper cuts, financial pressures that made me question my path, and the exhaustion of pouring my soul into pages that sometimes felt unseen. Balancing life family, faith, and this relentless call to create and serve hasn’t been easy. But those struggles? They’ve been my teachers. They’ve taught me resilience, patience, and the beauty of showing up even when I don’t feel ready. If you’re struggling too whether with your own creative dreams or life’s curveballs know this: you’re not alone. We’re in this together, and every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory.
Since so many of you have asked me about my writing process over the years, I thought I’d share a few tips that have carried me through especially as I’ve worked on my latest projects:
Write Through the Fear : Don’t wait for the perfect moment or the perfect words. Start messy. The magic happens in the revision.
Find Your Why : On tough days, remind yourself why you write. For me, it’s to inspire, to heal, and to connect. What’s yours?
Rest is Creative Fuel : Burnout is real. Step away, take a walk, pray, or just breathe. Your story will wait for you.
Affirm Your Worth : I’ve leaned on affirmations to silence the inner critic. Try this one: “My words have power, and my voice deserves to be heard.”
Community Matters : Share your work with trusted souls. Their encouragement can light up the darkest writing slumps. These aren’t just tips they’re lifelines I’ve clung to, and I hope they serve you too.
My Book Launch!
Now, the moment I’ve been bursting to share: I’m launching my new book this year! Titled, ”The Flames Within” , it’s a labor of love born from my own experiences stories of overcoming, finding peace in chaos, and trusting that there’s light on the other side. It’s part memoir, part inspiration, and all heart. I poured my 20s into these pages, and I can’t wait for you to hold it in your hands. The official launch is soon, and I’ll keep you posted on the exact date. For now, I’d love your prayers as I finalize edits and prepare to send this baby into the world. It’s a vulnerable thing, sharing your soul like this, but I trust it’ll find the hearts it’s meant to reach maybe even yours.
Affirmation Cards- My Power Tool
A Little Piece of Peace Alongside the book, I’ve created something special: a set of Affirmation Cards for the Soul . These 365 cards are filled with words of encouragement, hope, and love things I’ve whispered to myself in tough times. I’d be so honored if you’d consider purchasing a copy. They will be available for pre-order and every sale helps me keep creating especially towards my foundation. Plus, they make a sweet gift for someone you love or yourself (because you deserve it).
A Request from My Heart
As I step into this new season, I have one humble ask: please pray for me. Pray for strength, wisdom, and courage as I navigate this year, launch this book, and keep showing up for all of you. I covet your prayers and your support they mean more than I can express. And if you feel led, share this newsletter with someone who might need a little light today. I also have a funny wish list, that only my eyes have seen.
Thank you for being part of my story. You’ve cheered me on, held space for my dreams, and reminded me I’m not alone. Here’s to more love, more peace, and more words that matter together.
With all my heart,
Joseph Okunmuyide
